Fun Facts About Italy to Take on Your Trip

Fun Facts About Italy to Take on Your Trip. Why are facts so important when going on a trip? Well for one, it is so important to know and understand the place you are travelling to for safety reasons. But today we’re not looking to add to your safety repertoire (although we do want you to be safe). Today we are going to go over fun facts about Italy simply because they are, well, fun. This list is brought to you by Flavours Holidays’ write Lorne Blyth.

  • Most of Italy was once Ancient Greece. Syracuse in Sicily was once the largest city in Greece. What is really interesting is that much of this region was called greater Greece because so much of the ancient Greek population used to live there.
  • Italy is home to Europes oldest University. Bologna University is the oldest University in Europe. It was founded in 1088 (which was probably a bit before you were born). “Of the top 10 oldest universities in the world, 4 of them are based in Italy”.
  • Italian Cops, Police in style. Italy is known for its fine food and culture, but often people forget about cars because Italian cars can be so expensive. Roll in Lamborghinis (pun intended). Some Italian Police drive around in Lambo’s saving citizens one cool turn at a time.

So what do you think of some of these facts? Pretty cool eh? There is a lot more where that came from in the article below so please don’t hesitate to read it right away!
