Secret Italian Towns

While it might look like a small country on a map, Italy has a vast landscape filled with mystery, intrigue, things to do, and good food. Florence, Venice and Rome come to mind as particularly beautiful places to visit in the giant boot, but there are more. If you were looking for something less touristy, yet just as beautiful you’re in luck. Today we will be talking about our favourite secret Italian towns. This list is brought to you by Culture Trip.

  • Alberobello, Puglia is a beautiful town near Bari. It’s cone-shaped white houses look magical. The city is very thin with narrow streets and stunning piazzas. This town has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.
  • Bergamo, Lombardy is a town right out of a romantic film from the 1950s. Rustic houses embedded with green shrubbery and walled by a magnificent border make Lombardy the place to beat.
  • Treviso, Veneto looks like it could be a smaller version of Venice, minus the crowds. A cornerstone of Italian Christianity, here you will find many medieval churches and beautiful cobblestone streets.
  • Saying that Bologna, Emilia-Romagna is most certainly not Bologna. It is an incredibly cool town and is home to the oldest university in Europe.  It is also a great town for foodies. We recommend you try the lasagne. So that’s our list for now. What do you think? There’s a lot more to secret Italian towns than just this so make sure to click the link below to read more.
