The Village in Toronto

It occurred to me the other day that most places in the world don’t have a place like the very bright, colourful and gay village that we have in Toronto. While many cities have gay communities, Toronto houses a physical community for LGBTQ+ people. The Village is located in the northern part of downtown Toronto with the main known intersection being Church Street and Wellesley Street.

Here you will find a hub for art and culture which includes, “galleries, art installations and theatre”. Nightlife in the village is when the fun often starts with “music, dancing and shows that entertain and attract visitors.”

You don’t have to be LGBTQ+ to enjoy the supportive and free spirit of the village. You can walk down the street to the drag bar Crews and Tangos and go for dancing and a show. After that, you should go for a late night Pizza and Ice Cream. The Villiage is home to a diverse crowd both in terms of LGBTQ+ background and ethnic and religious background. There’s truly something for everyone in this inclusive hub in Toronto.

If you were ever unsure of when to visit we’d highly recommend going during Toronto’s Pride Parade. Here you will find hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world come together in support, and triumph of the LGBTQ+ community.

It is truly a sight to behold. We think you should just go check it out for yourself. We hope to see you there!
